Kia’s compact car has been one of its best sellers in recent years. Forte enthusiasts will be happy to know that the car’s 2019 model was officially announced by Kia, recently. Sure, its compact nature is nice, but many drivers have hoped for a bit of a size upgrade while straying away from the mid or full-size sedan categories. Well, the new Forte is indeed bigger but it still holds the same qualities that made it loved by so many.

2017 was the best model year ever for the Kia Forte as almost 118,000 units were sold. Yet, the newest version of the car is receiving a redesign and will have a whole different feel. The base version has been shown in a sedan form and it is expected that the Forte5 hatchback will also receive updates. Kia has not announced an exact date of release, but we expect that the 2019 Forte will arrive at dealerships by the end of December.
The engine under the new Forte’s hood is being carried over from 2018, but that is not to say its identical. A 2.0-liter I4 engine is what powers the new Forte and it is as efficient as ever thanks to enhancements like the Atkinson Cycle and a cooled EGR system. Those two features are standard on more hybrid motors but they can also help standard engines mitigate fuel waste. Kia expects the new Forte to average up to 35 combined MPG.
Perhaps the most glaring difference between 2019’s model and past years’ is the style and design. The Forte has steadily evolved into a sharp, stylish car. In fact, the 2019 Forte’s design is loosely based on that of the brand new 2018 Stinger. With a “commanding road presence,” the new Forte is sure to stick out and make passersby turn their heads.
