New Engine Options Added for the Redesigned 2021 Kia Sorento
As one of the most well-known models in the Kia lineup, the Kia Sorento has provided drivers with a comfortable and strong overall ride for families. However, it has officially hit its fourth generation with the coming of the 2021 Kia Sorento. On top of its total redesign, the model will receive several new powertrain options for those wanting efficiency or power. We at Garden Grove Kia looked into the model, which is slated to arrive at dealerships later this year.

Available in five trim levels, the 2021 Kia Sorento will have two internal combustion engine options. This includes the standard 2.5L GDI 4-cylinder option, which receives up to 191 horsepower and 182 ft-lbs of torque. Compared to last year’s options, its 27 Combined MPG has improved by two MPG. Meanwhile, the available turbocharged engine will also provide ample power (281 HP) and torque (311 ft-lbs) but will improve on fuel economy. Up from 22 MPG found in the 2020 V-6 engine, the turbocharged option received an estimated 25 Combined MPG. Both engines can be equipped with either FWD or AWD.

Beyond the two internal combustion powertrains, the 2021 Kia Sorento will also receive two hybrid options. Available once the model releases, a 1.6L GDI 4-cylinder Turbo hybrid option will be offered. It can receive up to 227 horsepower and receives a best-in-class 37 Combined MPG. Meanwhile, a later option for a Plug-In Hybrid model with the same general motor will be available in 2021. With its setup, a model could receive around 261 horsepower and experience a 30-mile All-Electric Range. Plus, it comes with an all-wheel drive function in case those were looking for added traction.
