Fourth-Generation Kia Rio at 2016 Paris Motor Show

It seems Kia is keeping things low-key for the 2016 Paris Motor Show, but the automaker is still flaunting what looks to be the fourth-generation Kia Rio, which is one of the bestselling vehicles from the brand. We’re not sure how much we’ll be seeing of this new generation, or how soon, simply because the Paris Motor Show is an opportunity for automakers to flaunt vehicles for all markets. It does give us high hopes for what is to come, though.

What did we learn about the redesigned Kia Rio?

Though there aren’t many official images available yet, you can see that Kia is well-aware that the third-generation Rio is beginning to show its age. Things are steering toward sportier exteriors even in the compact segment, and this little hatchback has gotten a makeover. This is most noticeable in the front end, but you’ll see subtle details like a sweeping rear bumper and straight lines along the side sills, too. The front has slim, angular headlights you’ll immediately recognize, but the grille and bumper offer a bigger contrast, angular lines and a more aggressive nose overall.

Kia isn’t offering many specifics, and keep in mind that all details are for the European market, but features seems to include available keyless access, heated front seats, rain-sensing windshield wipers, automatic headlights, the “floating” HMI and a 7-inch screen.

We can’t tell you what the engine options will look like, but if you enjoy the style you’ll probably be waiting a year for the model to go into U.S. production. It seems we’re always the last to get the latest and greatest, but isn’t it well-worth the wait?
