If you’re in the market for a midsize crossover, look no further than the Kia Sorento. Offering plenty of the segment’s essentials, like space, versatility and fuel efficiency, the Sorento makes an excellent option in the class. But one of its lesser-known features, and one we’re quite excited about, is the ability to optimize your drive with the press of a button. We thought we’d take a closer look at the 2017 Kia Sorento Drive Mode Select, to give you a better idea of what exactly it is.

In the Kia Sorento, the Drive Mode Select has three different modes to choose from. In normal mode, all of your vehicle’s settings are set for just that – normal, everyday driving. By changing to one of the other two modes, your vehicle will automatically adjust several different settings to align with the setting you’ve chosen. For instance, the second mode is Sport, and by activating it the vehicle will automatically adjust things like the steering wheel, engine and transmission systems for sportier performance. You might notice a change in fuel consumption and that your vehicle shifts at higher RPMs
The third and final Drive Mode is Eco. Rather than setting the vehicle up for sportier performance, Eco mode adjusts things to improve fuel efficiency. Things you might notice include changes to how fast you accelerate, transmission shift pattern, engine sound and that your air conditioning is performing differently as well.
As we mentioned earlier, selecting the drive mode you want to operate in is as simple as pressing a button, quite literally. Somewhere in your center console, there will be a Drive Mode button. When your vehicle turns on, Normal Mode is automatically selected, but pressing the button will let you cycle through all three modes. You can watch the video below for a more visual explanation of how exactly selecting your drive mode works in the 2017 Kia Sorento.
