How efficient is the new Kia Optima?

Although it is known for its looks and style, the Optima is one of the most efficient models in the Kia lineup. It averages 36 highway MPG, which is outstanding given that the base Optima is a standard gasoline car. In the city, the 2018 Optima averages 25 MPG—still not too bad at all. Those numbers are coincided with the base engine, of course. The standard engine option on the Optima is a 2.4L I4 with 185 horsepower. That engine comes on the LX, S, and EX trim levels. Meanwhile, the SX trim comes with a much more powerful, 2.0L I4 with an impressive 245 horsepower. With that added power comes a slight hit to the car’s gas mileage. However, the SX still gets 31 highway and 22 city MPG.
