In addition to serving as an unofficial welcome to summer, the last weekend in May is home to one of our favorite holidays: Memorial Day! The day off from work is always welcomed, but more importantly, it’s a time to remember the brave servicemen and women that have put their lives on the line to keep our great country safe from harm. Garden Grove Strawberry Festival
The Garden Grove area is world-famous for producing some of the best strawberries there are. So much so, in fact, that Memorial Day weekend is all about celebrating our favorite fruit. Included among the festivities are amphitheater performances, game booths, plenty of rides and attractions, and a parade to wrap it all together. It’s certainly an event you can’t miss if you’re a proud resident of Garden Grove!
Strawberry Stomp 5K
If you’re looking to get some exercise in and also have some fun doing it, the Strawberry Stomp 5K might be for you. This route through downtown Garden Grove, which takes place on the 27th, is both beautiful and rewarding, because you’ll also receive a free T-shirt and medal for finishing! Do it for the T-shirt.
Veterans of War Memorial Day Event
As mentioned previously, Memorial Day is also a day of remembrance for the great men and women who fight for and serve our country. The Veterans of War event at Pines Park in Dana Point is a great way to pay your respects, and also reminisce with those who you fought next to on the front lines.
