Which 2017 Kia models have all-wheel-drive?
Here in Garden Grove CA, we’re fortunate to have fairly nice weather year-round. We imagine fewer shoppers are looking for AWD here than they might in states with icy roads half the year. Still, it’s a nice feature to have to gain an overall better feeling of road stability, and its performance enhancement is especially favored in sporty or off-roading vehicles. For those who are asking, “Which 2017 Kia models have all-wheel-drive?” we have some quick answers.
2017 Kia SUVs with AWD
Unfortunately, Kia doesn’t currently offer any cars with the all-wheel drive system. The does have two SUVs that do have this optional drivetrain: The 2017 Kia Sportage and 2017 Kia Sorento. Both models are attractive options that blend roominess with agility, making them ideal models for families or those who need extra space for their sporting equipment.
The 2017 Kia Sorento is the larger of the two options, but unfortunately the AWD system is not available on the base trim. The upgrade is worth it, however, as the Dynamax system uses electronic sensors throughout the vehicle to help perfectly distribute power. This way, it doesn’t waste energy creating the optimum balance of efficiency and traction.

Those who are looking for an even more efficient, but smaller, vehicle will want to drive the 2017 Kia Sportage. It has the same all-wheel drive system, but it’s quite as bulky. This crossover is a smart solution for those debating on a midsize sedan, but would rather have the higher ride height and improved cargo capacity, plus all-wheel drive.
Will there be more AWD options in the future?
It’s not entirely clear whether there will be more Kia AWD options in the future, but it is worth noting the Kia Soul Trail’ster concept model. This aggressive take on the Kia Soul is not currently set for production, but it does indicate that Kia is considering the wants of drivers and the potential to expand drivetrain options.
